Official Bag Lady?

Bag's, I have bags!!!
In cleaning the closet this past weekend I realized that I have way more than my share of bags. Bags of all colors, shapes, sizes, with and without wheels. The most interesting find were the bags from a local women's conference I've attended a few times and the ones from the organization I belong to (PRIMR/ARENA) for work, and thank goodness they didn't get on the bag bandwagon for many of the years I attended their conferences.
The women's conference is an amazing event who has had such speakers as: Ann Richards, Suze Orman, Dr. Phil, Soledad O'Brien, Mary Lou Retton, Linda Ellerbee, Bill Geist, Linda Evans, Nancy Brinker and Doris Christopher.
Anyway, these are now on the top shelf of my walk in closet in a laundry basket until I figure out what the heck to do with them.

Junk vs Stuff

This is just one wall of our 2 car garage at the new house. OMG, yes it needs work, lots of it. I hope this Labor Day weekend to do some laboring at home and get this and the inside of the house better than it is now. Just saying.....
Anyway I'll be back with more pics of the progress.

Introducing Skyler Andrew-Our third grandson

He has been here almost a month and I have yet to blog about him. He is Skyler Andrew born at 10:46am, August 4th, 2010. He was 6lbs 13oz and we are all in love with him. His brothers Tanner (4) and Bryce (7) love him to bits. This was our first look at him as the boys were with me (their Nina) at our house in St Joseph when he was born and we knew within a couple minutes as daddy made the phonecall that morning telling of his arrival, but we wanted to "see" him. Finally this picture came thru, and I showed the boys, but it wasn't a reality for them until they got to actually lay eyes on him in mom's hospital room in this cribette and then hold him. Welcome to the world Baby Skyler!

Family

Life is about family for us....we just don't get to enjoy them enough these days. Soon the family will be expanding as our grand-darlings get a baby brother. Our Emily is having another boy in August and we could not be happier, even if we were wishing for a little pink this time. Our boys Tanner (almost 4) and Bryce (almost 7) on our back deck the night before their Missouri vacation. Emily in late May wondering how big this boy will be.

Cobwebs and bunnies

Kinda out of order, but bear with me. I could not be happier with the way the front porch looks, but it still needs power washed at some point. Right now we're fighting the march of the ants and have some good stuff out there to kill them. They are just DISGUSTING! I love my garage sale chair and planter and my beauty had three blooms on it today. The reflection of the door shows you the side of garage as you come up the walk.
I was fast trying to be late for work the other morning when I went out the front door to get the paper and looked out at the fog and saw this amazing web on the light poll. I went back in the grabbed the camera and headed out and I'm sure my husband wondered what the heck was going on. No set up from me on this shot, it's all natural, as it was one juicy morning. Appropriate I'd say....since we are the ADAMS FAMILY!

We have PETS! Baby bunnies in the front yard. I noticed what I thought was a nest last week and mowed around it and sure enough tonight I pulled back the dry grass and fur and this is what I found.

Pauline Goes to Kenya; March 2010

My friend from work Pauline Mbuvi is from Kenya and returned there in March 2010 and visited family and friends. She visited this school that is near and dear to her heart and handed out pencils to the children.

The MONEY PIT

We moved to our new house November 17, 2009 and since then we've been working on getting the Urbana (AKA the Vermont House) ready to sell. As of today it has all new windows, fresh paint inside, a new bathroom downstairs and many other things. The kitchen got a complete overhaul with new wood flooring, new sink and faucet, new stove and refridgerator, new backsplash, and we threw in a new microwave for the new owner we hope to have one day.

From dreams to rainbows

It's been a cool, windy, rainy weekend and this morning at 6am when Bill opened the blinds to the sliders in our bedroom, this is what we were greeted with. Looks like two houses on Chestnut Street were hit with a pot of gold this morning. Scenes like this are why I feel like I'm on vacation everyday rather than living in a new home.

Arbor Renovation

After cleaning up the garden and tearing down the disgusting plastic that was attached to the arbor, we bought some heavy vinyl and cut it to size and attached it to the sides. I can't wait for the vines to start climbing.

Springtime cleanup

This was Easter weekend (April 4th). Nothing was done in the backyard last fall with moving and all, so there was plenty waiting for me this spring.

Saturday April 10th was a rather windy day, but it was warm and sunny and so the attack began.

This is post cleanup with the trees and flowers blooming.
The fence row looks much better and the trellis will get a new insert for the climbing vines.

Australian Treats - Squeeling in Target on a Friday Night

Alison, my dear friend in Australia, has introduced me to many things over the years, but one of the best things she has brought to my attention was TIM TAMS. She's sent them to me thru the mail, she's brought them to me in Utah to share with friends in stitching class and we have talked about Tim Tam's many times. So imagine my shock and pure excitement when I walked into TARGET last night and there from an end cap as you enter the first register was none other than Australia's Favorite Cookie! This was the only flavor they had, and they cost $2 a package (cheaper than girl scout cookies). I've yet to open the package, but if they are by Pepperidge Farm, my guess is they taste pretty good.

Snow, Snow go away

It's been a long winter and we are very sick of the snow. We had a blizzard on Tuesday (Feb 9th) and I bailed from work at 1pm and went home. Wednesday I called a snowday and just stayed home and enjoyed myself watching the snow blow around. The roads weren't good, so it was good to be next to the fire stitching and watching the DVR. The scenes are off our back deck looking out to the pond.

Box City....a couple months later

We continue to live among the boxes in my workroom and in the office, but the rest of the house is coming along. The livingroom/diningroom is about there, once I get the bookcases arranged and the Longaberger baskets photographed and indexed and put somewhere...yes I have a few dozen. This is still my favorite room in the house.

I finally decided the arrangement of the samplers I wanted on the walls and one day just started hanging them. These were spread over several rooms in our other house, but I like the look of them grouped in one place.

The main bath is all about lighthouses.

The guestroom is ready for anyone who wants to come stay. (Babies welcome)

The baby dresses are antique, the cradle is my daughter Emily's from when she was born and come summer it will be needed at her house along with the bassinet. Looks like I need to get that white mini crib put together.
